Latest and Greatest Spa Products For over 50 years, French doctors have practiced mesotherapy body treatments, in which vitamin- and mineral-based concoctions are injected into the middle layer of the skin to help break down fat and stimulate weight loss. While the US was a little slower to warm to the idea, the last few years have seen increased stateside visibility for the treatment, and a boom in doctors and derms offering the procedure. Now, one New York doc has taken it to the next level, adapting the treatment for cosmetic use in his Meso-Lift Facial.
Billed as a “lunchtime quickie” service, the one-hour Meso-Lift Facial offers a healthy alternative to chemical cosmetic fillers and intense skin treatments. After a consultation and facial cleanse, Kulick spends 20-25 minutes injecting a customized mix of nutritional supplements—including multivitamins and CoEnzyme Q-10—into various points on the face using gentle micro-needles. The mesotherapy technique allows the formula to go deeper into the skin than any cream can penetrate, causing hydration and fortification to occur at a base level. A 15-20 minute mask, full of herbs and high in hyaluronic acid, follows the injections, helping to calm, moisturize and revitalize the skin. Results are usually immediate: The face looks rested, supple and plumped up in a natural way. (Many models book the service before a photo shoot to help get a healthy, no-makeup glow.) Unlike other cosmetic injections, there is no stiffness or paralysis of nerves with this facial, and all ingredients are natural and non-toxic. Dr. Kulick recommends an initial series of four facials—spaced about a week apart—followed by a touch-up every six months; both dehydrated summer skin and skin worn by harsh winter heating can benefit from the treatment.
